Not on E53 model ....You will need a new pair of head lights, bumper ,fenders and the hood.

you will need those things to finish a facelift but i just want to know if anyone has put a facelift hood on a prefacelift and left everything else prefacelift, its been done on the e46, the hoods are direct swap, the only difference is the grills.

Fair question!Dont know anyone that has done just the hood but the idea is tempting as with the bigger grills it will update your pre-facelift without the all the cost!I dont see why it cant be done!Just took some measurements here of x5s E53 we have at dealership and in fact it seems that that the pre-facelift X5 already lower in the middle on the bumper to accept the facelift hood! All you need to do (maybe not!!) is alter your pre-facelift bumper in the middle ,in case the hood hits it,so no big deal..
It will look something like this...Looks better than a facelift X5

Yeah no I don't think it would turn out ok. Look at where the headlights are, and the width of everything. I think it'd look completely unfinished and rigged up entirely wrong.

As MRBMWX5 said - you need hood, lights, fenders, bumper... hood alone will not cut it...

I thought about this as well awhile ago... I'm pretty sure, like stated above, the middle of the hood where it meets the top of the bumper will be an issue and I also think where the hood meets the inner lower corners of the lights it would not line up correctly (/cover up the lower headlight trim bc it is flush with the pre-f hood)

im also suprised no one has made a facelift look grill for the prefacelift, and i mean how the grills are sorta turned in a bit to make them look thicker.

Bumping this thread up instead of starting a new one, but has anyone actually attempted this?

The clear coat on my pre-facelift X5 is peeling and is at a point which requires a respray. Purchasing an entire hood in the correct colour is much cheaper, but for some reason it is rather hard to find a pre-facelift X5 hood in my area
