i guess you had a chance to check the fuses F34 and F48 in the glove compartment with a meter? or, just replace with good known 7.5A fuse, both are same values...

EDIT: Spoke too soon. The fuse keeps blowing. What the heck could be causing it to blow repeatedly?
Amazing! I owe you a brewski sir. 48 was popped, replaced and all functions back to normal. I initially checked 34 and it was fine. Thank you for enlightening me to #48. BEst fix ever! Thanks again.

interesting... ok, tell us a bit of the history...
when did the AC stop working? what did you do to the car prior to it? include things like changed tire, replaced windshield wiper... or, tried to install rear fog light switch... if you did nothing, check with your wife/GF, to see what she may have done and "forgot" to let you know... it there is still NOTHING, try to remember external circumstances, like a carwash, an evil eye, a visit to a dealer... it is much easier to chase an electrical gremlin if you have some intel on it!!! |

Recent history: Car sat for 2 weeks (drove intermittently to keep Battery charged) due to re-tear of driver's side CV Boot. I got the parts in and did the repair Saturday. At this time I also did a tranny fluid change. Upon starting the engine and running through the gears to top off the tranny fluid I notice the climate control will not turn on. BUT I cannot pin point when exactly it stopped functioning due to not driving it everyday. It very well could have been not working 2 weeks ago. I replaced the CV boots using the inner boot/ tri-pod gear shortcut. The only bolt I undid was the lower control arm. No electrical harnesses were touched.
After doing a bit of research I think it is purely coincidental. I have read that the AUX water pump (the 2nd one that feeds coolant to the heater core) could be bad or there could be a short in the wiring to it. Good fun. My next step is to unplug the Aux WP and replace the fuse to see if it stops popping. Then I will know my culprit. Does anyone know how I can access the axillary water pump? From the top, bottom? I took a peak last night but could not see it.

Short term update: Managed to unplug the aux water pump from the top. What a PAIN. Had to undo the pwr steering resi, exp tank and the metal bracket that holds the 2 firm. Harness was on the BOTTOM of the pump with a stupid spring clip that wouldnt budget. I tried in vain for a half hour trying to unclip it blindly. In the end I had to contort it upwards, bending the hoses (I know not optimal) but I got it off using a screwdriver without any residual breakage.
The wires looked fine, no fraying from what I can see. I took a 10 minute drive hitting every button possible on the climate control panel repeatedly. Heat all the way up, A/C all the way down, highway speeds, standing still...you get the picture. So far fuse 48 is staying strong, no popage. Taking it to work tomorrow for the real test, fingers crossed... Side note in case anyone is wondering, the aux water pump makes a noticable difference in the heat temp at low RPM. At a red light with heat on 91F I can feel the air cool considerably. This would suck with winter temps outside.

Update: Hour and a half commute this morning in stop and go traffic and the fuse is holding strong. I am 90% sure it would have popped again by now. Suffice to say I have identified my issue as a faulty Auxiliary Water Pump. This little sucker costs $160 so I am going to give it a few weeks before replacing just to be certain plus I will not need strong heat here in CT for a while.
