what's the capacity (in gallons/liters) of the radiator + engine block (m62 engine)?

if you were to drain the engine block and radiator of its coolant, how much is needed to fill it up again? just wondering how much concentrate I need to buy.

I've search the net but can't find the answer. thanks

You'll be safe with approx 15.1 liters or 4 gallons. The coolant fluid capacity is not listed in my e53 owners manual...but my e38 & e39 owners manual (M62 & M62TU engines respectively) have it listed below as (includes cooling system & heater circuit):
  • 13.2 (12.5) quarts (liters) = M62 engine e38 740iL
  • 12.7 (12) quarts (liters) = M62TU engine e39 540iT
I recommend mixing the coolant/distilled water (50/50) first...then fill coolant expansion tank until needle rises to appropriate level. Any remaining unused coolant can be used to top off as you "bleed/burp" the system. I recommend keeping the container with any left-over mixed coolant handy in case you need to add a bit over the next few days as any trapped air makes it way back to the expansion tank which may require a quick top off of the system if your LOW COOLANT warning light comes on.

And always mix 50/50...coolant-to-distilled water (if not using a "pre-mix" coolant).
