TerminatorX5, that might be the issue! In other words, I've read somewhere that the AUT_SITZVERSTELLUNG parameter has to be set to nach_fb_entriegeln, in order for the seat to move, when you unlock the car, and to something else, if you want the seat to move when you open the door. Maybe I should set it to "aktiv" ?? And then you went to the Car/Memory area and there was an option in each of the four keys?
I'll check it out later this afternoon, when my wife returns with the car. Many thanks for that!

Let me know what you learn, I am looking at adding the auto door lock (above 20 km/hr if I remember correctly) to my 2002 X5 3.0 diesel. Seat memory for the key isn't critical - but if I know how to do it, then I'd try this.

The auto door locking is easy, I've done it, but my wife didn't like it and I switched back. The parameter you need to find is VERRIEGELN_XKM/H_SENDER_x in GM3 module, where the lower case x at the end of the parameter name is 1,2,3 or 4 (if memory serves me right). Change all of them to active and your doors should lock automatically.
The problem with this, is that BMW hasn't given us a away to automatically unlock the doors, for example, when you move the gear lever to Park, or when you switch the engine off. So when you stop, the doors are locked and each passenger has to pull twice on the door handles to open his/her door.

Quote:
But I kind of get the thinking behind BMW's engineers in not including an auto-unlock.
This method of the driver unlocking the door(s) ensures that the decision to remain parked, that it's safe to exit the car from traffic on the street side, to questionable persons on the curb side...is a valid reason for not having an AUTO-UNLOCK feature that occurs even when you may not want it to. And, if not having auto-UNLOCK as part of the auto-lock feature doesn't appeal to an owner, then this feature can be overlooked or turned off.

QSilver7, are you married?
LorL, please do not misunderstand me. I agree with you completely, but SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) didn't appreciate the locking (or rather the unlocking) method at all. Maybe it was my mistake too, because I didn't think about the Lock/Unlock button at the center console (stupid me). I might give it another shot though, and see how she will react to that. Admitedly, Greece is not such a dangerous place to live at, so keeping the doors locked is not high on her list of priorities. P.S. : and yes, she has prior experience about locking and unlocking from our WJ Grand Cherokee! Unfortunatelly.

i witnessed a little scene in Nice, France - i was coming back in town from Monaco, late at night and came to a traffic light.. there was a nice Jag in front of us, I think Vanden Plaas version... as the Jag stopped at the traffic light, and I was rolling behind him, from NOWHERE a little scooter appeared and the passenger on the scooter yanked on the passenger doors as they passed by the car - doors were locked, the scooter disappeared as fast as it appeared... the driver of the Jag did not even move his head - I, on the other hand, was looking at my wife, she was looking at me - WOW...
Another incident, with my wife driving 4.6iS in San Jose, Costa Rica - as she was crawling in the construction traffic, somebody knocked on her passenger window - she looked over, and there was a dude with a gun, who motioned her to roll the window down, as the doors were locked... since we don't have security X5, she rolled the window, he reached in, took her purse off the passenger side floor and the cell phone and took off... I'd rather stay in control of the locking, even though i must admit, sometimes the function is a bit annoying, if it does not do what you wished it would... |
