Doru is on a distinguished road
Do we need a DIY subforum or a sticky with them?

I tried to search in this forum for different knowledge, info, DIY's etc. And it's a miss sometimes. I had better luck searching in Google with reference to Xoutpost, which is awkward.

I know there is lots of good info here, but it gets lost, which is too bad. Same thing happened to Roadfly when they changed the look of the forum. Many threads disappeared, they are still there probably, but unless you use the exact words, it's impossible to find anything. And then you have to start a new thread, and some members will answer: "search, it has been discussed", which will help absolutely no one. Not even the old members, if they didn't bookmark those threads.

So, maybe we should have a "sticky" of some sort with DIY's, canonical knowledge & "heads up". What I mean is something like this one in Bfs (this would be my thread, BTW):

"Useful Links" for which forum I have been granted editing privileges that aren't time sensitive, so I can edit the above thread (adding important stuff for example).

The 'Festers have it set up a bit different, like this:
The Very Best of e39 Links where people started threads with good info. The latter is a bit discombobulated, but eventually you can find what you need, and in both cases, if the answer is not there, anyone can open of the DIY threads and start asking questions in the same thread, so everything stays consolidated.

Maybe a mod can take the lead, or a member who knows the respective threads and given permission by the mods to start compiling this kind of info?
