Speedometer jumpy after pixel repair

So I just changed the ribbon cable and thought I was fairly successful, however upon reinstallation the speedo is jumpy. It works, and I thought I was careful not move or stress it, it just jumps both up and down instead of the typical smooth motion. Any thoughts? Think I ruined it? It's more of an annoyance than anything problem, but I'm also not sure it always has the right speed if it sticks and hasn't jumped into position.
