No, I did not replace plugs at 100K. You think it could be issue?
One more point that I forgot and wanted to mention is that I was at the gas station that day filling up. But I use that gas station every week always premium. |

So it happened immediately after you filled your tank? Did your X have a very empty tank before you filled it up? What brand gas?

No, actually it was half full when I refilled the gas tank.
It was a PrimeEnergy gas station. I stop by at that place every week. Thanks to everyone who responded to my issue. I will keep everybody posted if I get the issue resolved. |

I agree with bastereo. Three coils at once would be extremely unusual as would 3 plugs. But one coil going bad could make it appear there is a problem with other cylinders. A bad plug(s) would not likely cure itself. A bad cat(s) would not go away either. Since the check engine light is off and the engine seems fine I would wait until it happens again and troubleshoot the issue then. You can eliminate plugs by changing them, they are due anyway. You can eliminate coils by either buying a new one and swapping it to each of the misfiring cylinders and see if the issue improves ,or, swapping a coil from 1 or 6 to see if the issue moves to that cylinder. If you are thinking it might be the gas, it is not likely that would go away either but I would check the gas cap to make sure it is tight. Problems that go away are a bear unless you can tie it to a particular event, like, it was raining really hard or you drove through standing water. Good luck, would like to hear the cause. Hopefully, this is one that goes in the supernatural file-also not likely.

Easy thing to check. Look at the contact point that touches the spark plug top. It is way up in the coil boot. If it looks dullish-gray, it is an indication of a bad coil. Replace all 6 at the same time. Keep the old ones that don't show the dullish gray as spares (keep one in the X with you).

EVERYONE: You do see that this posting is from going on three years ago?
The last post by this member was regarding a transmission issue on 11-07-2013, 10:38 AM. I think this guy has moved on from his X5 days.
