Test drove the a 2005 4.8is. Seams sluggish.
I test drove a 2005 4.8is. I found that it was kind of sluggish compare to my regular 2005 4.4. My 4.4 seem to shift stiffer and a stiffer ride. Is it possible the reason that the 4.8is is a smoother ride because the tranny adapted the driving style of the previous owner? tranny |

Quote:
The reason is...driver influenced adaptations are NOT stored in the TCM (tranny control module). The adaptation starts new at every start up. So if someone was previously driving the car in "granny-toe" mode (extreme economy mode)...when the ignition was turned off and you got in and restarted the car...the adaptation starts anew. If the individual/driver adaptations were stored...then the feature wouldn't be very "adaptive"...you'd always have to drive 100s of miles to overcome someone's driving habit. ![]() See text in red box in illustration below: ![]() ![]() ![]()

try another specimen of the 4.8iS - you might have had a bad unit on your hands... did you punch the gas? sometime is scary to punch the gas in the iS model... i must admit, i drive like a granny in town - there is not enough room to zoom...
4.8iS is very mean machine |
