Did you forget to scroll down after hitting the search button?
No it's not a joke. I and others have used it.

Okay...I can't tell if you're joking or serious.

The VIN site is not a joke. You enter your VIN, then answer one SIMPLE math equation (correctly), then click the SEARCH button.
Hint to solve the math equation:
  • + (addition)
  • - (subtraction)
  • * (multiplication)
  • / (division)
Scroll down and you should see the specs & options that was installed on your BMW.

If you have xenon lights, you should see this option code listed:
  • S522A XENON-LICHT Xenon Light

you can have both shining on at the same time - have you set it up this way already?

when my XP died and i did a reinstall from the backup, my backup turned up to be a Vista business... duh... i hate it, but i reinstalled INPA on it, and it works... it might work on the newer OS...

and i do agree, i prefered the yellowish halogen highbeam to the white xenons... before i had the bi-xenons only, i wish for the xenons to be part of the highbeams... i converted the stock hedlights on the 4.6 to bi-xenon by sticking the Audi projectors, as per one of the write-up on this forum... but that set up retained the halogen highbeams...
the 4.8 came with factory bi-xenons, which kept the halogen highbeams off, and i found it to be a bit harder on the eyes - while in absolute numbers, the highbeam xenon gave out more of the light, the eye perception was not the best... when i changed the LCM file to include the halogen highbeam, the reflected light was so much easier onthe eyes...

Artem, if you don't find the value to change, let me know, i will post it again...

When I was using the osram cbi's (5000k) bulbs, even though they were considerably brighter than a standard d2s, the increased blue Tint over a 4300k bulb was noticeable and straining to my eyes at night.

That being said, for those who may not know, HID bulbs go though what is known as "colorshift". As they age, the color temp increases while the amount of light slowly decreases to a point where your once 4300k bulbs will produce light closer to a bluish 6000k (some even beyond), at a significantly reduced brightness. A brand new 4300k (were talking genuine Phillips or Osram, not fleabay specials) will still retain a fair bit of the halogen "yellow", and be boatloads brighter than halogens (both in on paper & in practice) --- also making it "easy on the eyes".

Of course there's also the optical differences between a halogen high beam and bixenon projector; and the differences between how they distribute the light....but that's probably beyond the scope of this thread .
