2000 X5 IPOD CABLE INSTALATION

Anyone installed the ipod cable in a X5 glove box ? Harness has a plug on it but is there any additional wiring to be done ? instructions say 1/2 hr ? but ya have to pull the ducting and Nav system / radio out OMG . Is this stereo shop work ?
