Selflevel Susp.Inact: Diff between BMW Scanner 1.4.0 and GT1

Yeah.. I have the dreaded Selflevel Susp.Inact error code 4 weeks ago on my 06 4.8is. the 06 4.8is only has 42k miles.
The symptom is the the same. Front driver side dropped. Selflevel Susp.Inact code appear. Open the door and it leveled once. Ever since then, the car will not pump up anymore and the front driver side is dropped. after 3 weeks I must say that the same left side in the rear seems to have dropped some little too. the whole left side seem to lean. the right side is ok.

I've been reading and searching for solution on here and it appears that it is either a faulty front air bag, pump or sensor. From reading the thread, it appears that getting a code reader to diagnose would be the best solution. I'm ready to spend the money either on a Arnott air bag or a pump refurb kit.
However before I started, i wanted to read the code to try to figure out whether I need to buy the air bag or Pump refurb kit.

I even actually ordered a BMW Scanner 1.4.0 from ebay(From China). when the damn thing finally arrived. the ^%$@! disc would not install on my laptop or workstation. so that's 3 weeks of waiting down the drain.

So my question for the hive is the more I read, there is also mention of GT1. question 1, which tool do I need GT1 or BMW Scanner 1.4.0 what does each do. Do they do the same? I know the BMW Scanner will read the code and reset. Does the GT1 does the same? is it simply a newer version.

Question 2. Since my spousal unit has been complaining that she hasn't driven her x5 for the past 4 weeks and counting. If you need to take a stab in the dark, would it be the faulty Arnott air bag or the pump seal is bad.

Thanks a bunch guys!
