Left low beam headlamp bulb

So I have scoured all tutorials and avenues on tutorials regarding the change of headlamp. I have a 2006 4.8is and it appears the setup to reach the bulb is different from the regular X5. Am I better off taking it to a bmw authorized shop to get it replaced, unless someone can forward me the tutorial on the swap of bulbs?

Sincerely

Heisenberg.

IIRC, you need to drop the bumper before you can remove the headlight to replace the bulb.

yes I believe so x2

And D1S bulbs are necessary for replacement, I would replace in pairs as one has colorshifted I'm sure. You can get a Philips pair from theretrofitsource.com for about 100 bucks, and they are genuine!

If you want high quality aftermarkets you can do the Morimoto bulbs for half the price.

Here is the thread detailing bumper removal and headlight replacement. Be a man get some torx screwdrivers and a socket set and go to town, you won't hurt anything.

I'm also assuming you don't want to pay 200 bucks for bulbs, so how does 75 shipped for a new pair sound? Link below, I've always had great luck with Morimoto bulbs, use code "HIDP" for free shipping. FYI, stock color temp is 4300k and brightest, but they also make 5000k and 6000k if you wanted.

You's a life saver man. I have seen a member here with yellow fog lamps. Can someone direct me as to where I can purchase those? If I am going to remove the bumper, I might as well change the bulbs of fog lamps.

They are H11 bulbs. Search Hoen Endurance on google if you want the yellow ones the members here have. They will run you about 48 bucks shipped, but I've never burnt one out, and the yellow is the best, not that golden yellow like PIAA bulbs but a true French deep yellow.

Are you sure it's d1s.? The hella genIV ballasts use external igniters (that mount on the bulb)....it looks similar to a D1 but infact D2s. I thought all the facelift models were e55 w/D2S....like mine were.

whoops S I stand corrected! All this time I thought your crazy external igniter setup was D1S! LMFAO. And I'm sitting here trying to give advice on a facelift headlight! Doesn't the shroud say "BMW dynamic xenon D1S" though?

OP, disregard my previous post and get the D2S bulbs (from which you can choose many other kinds!) If I already made you place an order please call them to pause it!

^^ lol it's all good! You had me second guessing myself when I wrote that if I'm honest. I think the D1S was what first was used on the 7, I believe some of the newer models also use D1's (x6?).

I can see how one would get them mixed up though....they look nearly identical, the only real visual clue is that the hella igniters have clips that protrude (they are what lock the igniter and bulb to the projector) forward.

I don't know what the adaptive shroud says actually....I'd have meself a good ol' chuckle it does say D1S though! Lol.
