First you have to check with codes scanner to know which sensor is defected
but for sure you have ABS sensor issue ..maybe wire disconnected maybe the sensor itself maybe abs module! moreover check the level sensor and rear air spring status. |

Maybe just the battery .. have you checked the level using the OBC?

you say it has happened after you backed up the car into water. even if the wheels did not go deep enought to catch the sensors, you still may have caught the trailer socket.
you should be looking for the culprit in the back of the car, you say you replaced ABS sensor in the left rear - you might have to check the right rear as well... that also may apply to the level sensors, that are on the rear axle... also, check the battery compartment, there might be water in the battery tub... it would help a bit, if you would include your car's model and the month/year of manufacturing, along with the mileage |

The battery is newer about 3 months old. How do you check the level using the OBC. I will check the manual for info. Any links that you may direct me to would be great.

I have a 2000 X5 4.4 manufacture date 3/2000 miles 139,000. I checked the battery compartment and no water. Dry as can be. Also after I replaced the left abs sensor I disconnected the battery for about ten minutes to see if that would clear any codes with no change to the dash lights. Having codes read in the next couple of days. I will post an update then. |

2000 x5 Selflevel Susp.inact
I have returned from an independent BMW repair shop. They have read the codes and said I need a new ABS module. I have attached a copy of the print out from the shop. The price for them to replace $1150. installed and reprogrammed to my vehicle. They did not give me an option to rebuild.
So I have went on the forum and have removed my module and have it ready to ship to have Rebuilt. So far I have two options: Module masters wants $300. and will give it a five year warranty if it can be rebuilt. ASI(Automotive Scientific Inc.) Says $150. and a lifetime warranty. I do not think I will own this 2000 for very much longer so just wanting to deal with the best company to do the job right. Anyone had any experience with ASI or ModuleMasters. ASI say their turnaround is 5 business days. Please advise on any concerns I should consider. Thanks in advance for any and all replies. Cheers |
