Hmm, I understand the drifting part. Our courses are set up to be safe if there is little to no 4 wheel drifting, but as far as being competitive, do you just have too many points to make it work in Gonzo?

The time I was drifting was during a test and tune day and only on the skidpad

I'm actually barely in Gonzo but I run street tires and dial back the horsepower quite a bit. The classification is also kind of ridiculous... they give you added points for wheel width but not for tire width so when I ran 10 inch wide wheels with stretched 235s I got shafted. Couldn't compete with the guys on slicks.

I ran one event recently with Speedventures while they were doing the Bimmer Challenge time attack series. Just for fun but I had a good time. Going to try my luck at Redline and maybe GTA next year. Anyone know an Aero and tire sponsor?

Hmm, weird. Skid pads are supposed to be drifted. I didn't attend test and tune.

The classification system is definitely intended to be gamed. Stretching out 235s onto 10 inch wide wheels sounds more for 'stancewerks' or whatever the kids do these days. I would say give it another shot on a real course, but if you're having more fun with other groups, definitely do that! Show those SCCA guys the E36 platform is still great.

One more tip I found for people towing is to turn off the traction control. I had a moment where I made a semi-rapid evasion maneuver(with TCS on), but nothing close to being what I would consider dangerous. Traction control kicked in on the return movement and completely upset the vehicle and trailer. It cut power and seemed like it applied the brakes too. Definitely was not expecting that and I could see that being very dangerous if the maneuver was any more aggressive.
