Finally some pictures. Here she is, my 2004 4.4i

I started paying a little bit more attention to my X5 and decided to give her a bit of a make over. She was primarily used as a weekend car for moving around the city so that I could give my 335i MSport and my "back" a break from the pot holes. Ever since I got rid of 335i MSport (due to my expanding family) making the X5 my daily ride, I figured it was time to give her a bit of a makeover. I prefer the clean look of the 4.8is and contemplated purchasing one to replace the 4.4 but since I knew the nature of the beast I have, I decided to just keep her and add a few tasteful mods. Enjoy.

2004 BMW X5 4.4i with following mods (so far):
3M Crystalline Tint
OE Running Board
H&R sport springs with lowering links and Bilstein comfort front struts
OE Type 168 wheels with Continental DWS
M3 Steering wheel
retrofit TCU from 2007 Z4
4.8is rear bumper with valence
4.8is Fender flares

Good looking. Gauge rings would do wonder to that aging cluster.

Thanks fellas. On the subject of cluster rings, I've almost convince myself that I will be purchasing a new 4.8is cluster and just code it for my vehicle so that the mileage line up perfectly.

My next set of mod will focus heavily on the interior. The kids need entertainment. The plan is to gut the entire sound system and replace it with a more up-to-date setup. Since I dislike the way most of the dual-din radios look within the X5, I will be designing something custom using a 8" high resolution screen mated to a quad-core TI OMAP development board running a custom version of android.

Stunning. It's great seeing the "4.8 look" in colors that the 4.8 was not offered in.

Agreed completely. Car looks awesome! Great job... Shadow like trim, or painting that chrome trim would complete the look.
