Greek to me...

So I updated my MK-IV to V32 yesterday. My menu was all in English b4, and most of it still is, but everything in my little screen underneath the speedo is in some other language. Is this somehow involved with the update, or can I change it somewhere? When the mechanic had my X, he disconnected the battery, and everything reset. Did it happen because of this? Also, how do I access the hidden menu?

Should be able to fix it in the nav menu. Try switching it to a foreign language and then back to English. If that doesn't work, try reloading the update again. I did the same upgrade but be settings screen still shows /00 in the top right corner. What gives?

Ok, so I switched it over to English, but why are my languages under camera alert? I press camera alert, and then 3 different languages come up. Sorry, I can't help you with the version number, I don't know that much about it myself. I'm know there's plenty of pros on here that will be more than willing to chime in and help. Anyone?

camera alerts? on MK4? do you have a customized firmware? camera alerts were not available in the US and even in the UK i think they were aftermarket custmozed versions... latest factory authorized version is v.32, that shows up on MK4 as 4-1/00... any other version can show up as anything else... from main menu screen, select SETTING or SET (SETTINGS if you nav is set up in US land, and SET if it is in UK land), and look at the top right corner of the screen... what does it say?

Where did you get your OS update from? You have to be cognizant of who you get individualized firmware from...if they are from a different country you can have the issues you have...or if they wrote something specific in the firmware...you have to know this in case you don't want it displayed on your nav.

You also have to take into consideration that English (USA) is slightly different than English (UK or AUS)...or that there may be other options that are exclusive or inclusive to various BMW markets (like Europe's traffic alert system).

I bougt if from satnav updates, i guess thy're in UK, which is probly why the camera alerts. But in settings my version says 4-1/01. Why is it not 4-1/00 if I did v32?

it is customized v32 - for the system to start the update process, the version on the disk must be different from version on nav comp (up or down), so the custom versions call themselves "01" or whatever to let the comp run update, even if the comp already has stock v32.
