X5 -E53 2006 Driver Window Stuck
Hi
I have an 06 X5 with 63k miles. Just recently started experiencing driver window getting stuck when lowered to the bottom. I ended up removing the door panel and examining the regulator and didn't notice anything wrong. After lifting manually from the bottom and using the window button, I managed to get it up. I noticed its sluggish rolling up now, not as smooth as the other windows. My question is, is the regulator on its way out or the motor. If its the regulator, does anyone know have a tutorial on how to replace (never did it) and same goes for the motor. Alternatively, I am prepared to pay someone to replace either, if I remove and install the panel myself. Btw I am in central NJ. Thanks in advance for all your help |

before condemning the regulator or the motor, check the plastic clip that goes through the holes in the glass and has a metal nut/screw holding the glass part to the metal parts - in many instances, the plastic look like it is really in good shape while in reality it had partially disintegrated and thus putting additional stress onto the mechanics of the lift as the geometry is now skewed...
it is a $2 part that will cost you regulator and even motor - there are 2 of them in the front of the car... do a search on this forum, you will find the part number, and pictures of the part... |

I have a question on how to change the plastic clips on the front window. Do you need to loosen up the nuts on both clips in order to slide the glass off the regulator clip to replace one of the plastic clips?
