Exhaust tip removal help

The PO backed into something & bent one of the tips up.

It's on there but gooooood. How the heck do I get it off?

Inside of the new one:

At this point...the first thing that comes to my mind is heat.

If you have a torch, some tools (pliers to pull something hot), and possibly a lift to get you some room to maneuver (without catching anything on fire or melting any trim pieces)...you should be able to get it off.

If not, your local muffler shop might do you a favor for $20-$30 to get it off for you...and possibly install the replacement tip. All they can say is yes or no, and multiple local shops are only a phone call away.

If the tips are just a press fit into the muffler, just drill a hole in the tip and use a slide hammer with a hook at the end.

How did they fix it...what did thy do? And was it an inexpensive or expensive repair (if you don't mind sharing)?

If you can get in there with a dremel, make a long seam cut then spread and remove. If you can't fit the dremel, might have to take the bumper off to do the same.

He twisted it with a big channellock to free the tab in the middle on the top.

He has done a ton of work for me and didn't charge.
