Hi ,You said You have a 2004 4.6is.....?? is it a 4.8is?
The run flats are not recommended by my tire dealer[discount tire]
and if You have a x5 with different size tires from front to rear[which you should have] you would see a noisier tire and handling is bad also.

your psi should be 32 front 39 rear. but check the sticker in the door[at the same time check your year for the x5 too].
if your x5 is shaking in the front, it might be your abs module . and if it,s making noise then it might be your wheel bearings.

I have an 03 4.6is and yes I run the stock staggered wheels. I also have an 03 4.4 that my wife drives. In the winter I run a designated snow tire on the 4.4 and use her all terrains on the 4.6. It just looks a little goofy. What you say about offsetting the rears makes sense. I will use these run flats on the 4.6 in the winter, occasionally I will have it in snow but not often or for very long.

Thanks for your input but I only experienced the vibration when I installed the E-70 wheels on the 4.4. It has to be the difference in size as QSilver said so when I install the hub centric rings on the wheels this winter I will let you all know.

Just one more tip with using hub centric rings:
...if you're mounting/dismounting the wheels yourself...then it won't be much of an issue as to the rings being there...sometimes they will stick to the hub...sometimes they come off with the wheel...this is because they are on the "thin" side since the difference between 74.1mm & 72.56mm is not that great (only 1.54mm - unlike the much larger rings in the YouTube video).

(this is what 74.1mm to 72.56mm hub centric rings look like)

...if a tire/wheel shop will be mounting/dismounting your wheels...then stay on top of letting them know that hub centric rings will be required (have them ready to hand over when mounting the e70 wheels)...or will need to be removed when the e70 wheels are taken off. And if you're on sight when the mount/dismount is being done...you may want to walk out (if possible) to let the tire jockeys know because even though it may be written down on the paperwork...if the shop is real busy...those guys can get in a hurry and overlook this little fact and end up destroying one or more of your rings....especially if one is stuck to the hub...and they go to mount your orig wheel & it doesn't want to fit on the hub...so they push harder to get it on or start screwing in the lug bolts...and wind up totally destroying your ring(s).

In the last scenario above, it may not even be discovered something is wrong if you weren't there...until you start driving and immediately discover something is wrong by an odd vibration etc (just as you're experiencing now)...or when you look to see where your 4 rings are so that they don't get lost until the next time you mount your e70 wheels.

Thanks QSilver,

Good advice as always. Unless I take the car in to have new tires mounted or check the balance, I always switch them out myself from winter to summer. But I will try to remember this cuz I can easily see how this could happen. Thanks again for all your sound advice.

I just got the steering knuckle for the 4.4 and waiting for a weekend to put that in. It has about 125K miles and the 4.6 has about 106K. For now things are good so hoping to have a long major problem free run.
