Alternator trouble 4.8is

I suspect the alternator in my 4.8is is not charging at all. The car died on me today and went into limp mode before it cut out. When trying to start the car again, the battery was totally drained with all warning lights on the dash showing.

The voltage tested at 11v, and after jump start the voltage does not increase when increasing the engine speed. I suspect the alternator is not working, but there is no warning light on the dash to identify this. Will worn bushes in the alternator do this or is it the voltage regulator?

Sounds like a charging problem. If once you jump it and the voltage does not go up, then the alt is kaput. You can get a new voltage reg with brushes for $120 i believe. But you would need to see if the armature is still in good shape.
