2003 x5 3.0 leaking oil drain plug

Not sure if I have stretched the threads in oil pan by possibly over tightening oil drain plug, but I get oil leaking (not much but annoying) around oil drain plug. I have torqued to specification.

I do have the copper oring installed but still have oil leaking out.

Has any one had this issue? Any recomendations other then replacing oil pan.

Thanks

Were you using a new copper washer? How old is the drain plug?

You shouldn't have any leaks if torqued to spec, I usually replace the actual drain plug every other oil change (its cheap to replace) but I make sure to replace with a new crush washer EVERY oil change.

^RB gave you some good points there. I personally didn't replace the drain plug, but I do use new copper washer every oil change. What oil grade do you use? I have very minor leak on the old 3.0 when switching from 5W-30 to 0W-40.

As long as you were able to torque to specs the pan and plug should be fine.

Make sure the drip is coming from the drain plug rather than coming from above and just dripping from the plug.

Are you showing any oil blowing back on the bottom back of your X?

I know with the M's if the plug was previously cross threaded or otherwise leaking the fix was a "time-sert", see link below.
