Exhaust tips?

Hi

The tips on my exhaust are pointing down like most - I want to add chrome tips, has anyone done this? Im thinkning of cutting the standard tips on an angle so that the new tips are level...

Cheers

What platform (E53 probably), engine and exhaust do you have? Exhaust outlets that appear under the bumper (unseen) or through the lower part of the rear bumper section?

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
First things first, modify your sig to reflect your model year and at least engine equipped on your X, as well as any relevant options.

Like most of us have done here (it's an unofficial "rule" now) its much easier to help you out if we know what type of X5 you have!

Secondly, he said his tips "turn down" like most. That would indicate a 3.0 with the lovely turndown tips. A quick search of threads from years past would indicate that this is a popular mod for 3.0 owners, I have the same tips installed.

Part you need is Ractive part T815, or if you want the "black chrome" version you need T815B, 2 of them obviously. Then go to your favorite muffler shop, have them cut off your old tips, and weld the new ones on. If you don't want them to stick out too far and sit flush with the rear bumper, you also need to trim 2" off the inlet side of the Ractive tips.

All the info is in this thread, hope that helps.

I really like the look of those T815's, and will probably put some on my 3.0 soon, but has anyone put tips like on the 4.6 or 4.8 on the 3.0 exhaust?

They're quite expensive, Gary. That's the reason we went with Ractive instead.
