Aftermarket Media / Video Headrest Player Options

I'm in the market for an aftermarket solution that would allow my kids to watch videos in the back seat. My preference would be to use a Wifi hard drive (like the Seagate wireless plus hard drive) as the source for the videos, I don't really own or use DVD's.

I'd like to get replacement headrests I guess, that could hold a 7 inch tablet (like the nexus 7). Ideally, the tablet would charge while in the headrest. The tablet would have the versatility of being able to connect to the wifi hard drive (for video), being removable, as well as using bluetooth for audio to headphones.

Anyone have a setup like this in their X5? Haven't been real successful in my searching (both on this forum and at large). I found one option from Vision Tablet (Vision tablet PC) but it's not perfect, and a little bulky. There are a lot of Chinese knock-off headrests that have video built in, but they are all DVD based, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Any thoughts would be great, picture and links even better!

Regards,
Jason

i have DVD based headrests, have had it since 2006, kids like them, i like them too... but it is an old technology, so you need to see what the chinese have now days.. my setup only calls for the power from the car, which i supply the wake-on-lan power from the car, which cuts off after 16 minutes... the TV portion of the monitors does not work, as the US standard is different from the rest of the world...

Thanks for the feedback. I actually have one of those tablet headrest mounts, and it works ok, but it doesn't look very good, and I can't hide charging wires, and the kids can actually yank on it and pull it off the seat. I think there could be a real market for what I am looking to do, especially considering the inexpensive cost of 7 inch tablets ($150) and how expensive (and limiting from a technology perspective) the integrated OEM car solutions are. Any other feedback is welcome! Someone must have a clean, integrated solution, that's aftermarket...

I've run across several options on Ebay that were said to be specific to an X5. Seems like the prices ranged from $300 to $500--from China.

I was in a custom video shop not that long ago getting some cable for a battery quick disconnect and they were doing a system for an Escalade with all the bells and whistles. For grins, I asked them a range of cost and they said $900-$1,300.

With as fast as technology is changing as do likes and dislikes of each individual child you might want to consider getting each there own and then they have a bunch of options to choose to occupy their time in the X and otherwise.
