I need a photo of the wiring for the coolant level sensor: E53 3.0i

I'm overhauling the cooling system in my 2001 3.0i and I can't find the connector for the coolant level sensor. The sensor is installed in the expansion tank, but it's not plugged into anything. I looked all around the area where the connector should be, but can't find it!

Can somebody post a photo of how the wiring is routed from the firewall to the sensor? If I can trace the wiring from the firewall, I should be able to find where somebody hid the connector or the stump if it was cut off for some reason.

Do a search on the subject. Mine did not come with one either. Does yours have the light in the dash when your turn the key? Mine has the coolant tank in the dash but it does not light up when the ignition is turned on.

A search didn't turn anything up. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing?

There is no low coolant warning light bulb test on start up. So maybe my car doesn't use the sensor. So why would it have one?

Maybe to save cost on manufacturing different dashboards. I would assume that the sensor would be cheaper to omit than making a different dashboard.

There should be a connection to your sensor - it just makes sense. I did mine awhile back and it was connected. Sorry I sold that X5 so I can check for you. However just looking at the part # 17137524812 you can see where it needs to plug into something. If there is a dealer near you I am sure they can point it out to you for free. :-)

My dealer doesn't do anything for free.

I have the entire cooling system out of the car and there is definitely not a plug for the coolant level sensor anywhere. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it was snipped off or tucked away by a previous owner. Why would somebody do that? I have no idea!
