ZeGerman is on a distinguished road
The X5 saved my wifes life!

Hi guys! This is my first post here. I have been a long time lurker. Never needed to post because most questions were found using the search feature. But this is one thing I really wanted to share with all of you. Im sure all of you know that BMW makes safe cars, but how many of you wonder how well occupants would fare in an accident?

My wife is an excellent driver. She would be able to get out of most situations. Just a few days ago my wife was driving on a windy small two lane road when all of a sudden she heard a pop and the car veered to the right and into a ditch just a few feet from a driveway which launched her in the air. The X did an end-over flip, took out a few large trees before coming to rest upside down on the other side of the driveway. Debris on the road cause both tires on the driver side to burst.

The X did everything it was supposed to do in that situation. She described the seatbelts tensioning and pulling her tightly to the seat. All the airbags that were supposed to deploy, did. She managed to kick open the door to escape. Despite the car being unrecognizable, the steering wheel still moved out of the way when the door opened. She came out of it without a single scratch.

The police arrived followed by the EMTs. The EMT guys ran to the car expecting to find the occupants still inside. They were surprised to find it empty. They asked where the occupants were. My wife responded. They looked at her in disbelief. "you came out of that?"

Long story short. The X5 is a fantastic car. The X5 she had was a 2005 3.0 model.

I asked her what car she wanted next. She said she wants the same thing again just with a bit more power

So we went out and goy a 2004 X5 4.8is. And what a beautiful ride it is!! The PPI revealed a few minor issues but overall it was in great condition. I will post pics of it soon. I already have a whole list of mods for it.

I also want to thank all the members here for all the valuable info that I have gotten from this site in the past. I will make sure to contribute in the future.
