did you take the black cap off under the mirror where the torx screws are located that might help?(it tightens the motors up)

I'll give that a try later this week.

It is looser in the horizontal (fore/aft) folding directions than the passenger mirror. It is taught in the vertical (up/down) axis.

Check post #3 in this thread for a way to help get the mirror cover off:

The 'module' is the name for the window/mirror switch assembly -- it's all one unit.

Start your search on ebay for a used one after you check that power is not getting from the module to the mirror pins in the module. Grab a volt/ohm meter and you'll find out quick if it is the module. To be honest, you should hope it is the module b/c the mirror costs way more!

from what I've found on my mirrors, its not the limit switch thats the problem of them folding in and then back out right away, but more the place where the limit switch pin SITS on the motor housing. the two divets on the white ring are not large enough, so when I made the small hump between the two divets smaller by shaving some of the plastic away, the mirrors worked fine on folding.

Yes. Carefully pry the module up with a plastic trim removal tool.
