harness confusion re airbag
This has started to really confuse me…I was looking for the harness/squib connectors that attach to steering wheel airbag on a nov 2004 e53 3.0d, what is listed on realoem and even at dealers does not correspond to what is installed on vehicle(vehicle is factory spec) my car has the 04 and sports steering wheel shown in first pic
Realoem says part 5 (adapter wire f airbag module, part no 32306766855) is the part whereas this does not exist on the vehicle, what does exist if you look at second diag (the 01-03 sports steering wheel) is a cable resembling part number4 (connecting line, airbag/slip ring part number 32301097246) What is going on? I cannot get a definitive answer from anywhwere, including bmw uk, Cyprus and even Germany….neither can I find 32306766855 if I google it…hmmm

these are two different steering wheels, and you say your car has the one on the first pic? but the harness is like the one on the second pic?
do you have your as-built sheet? what is listed there for the steering wheel option code?

thanks TX5, either way I am sure that bmw and realoem and the other online schematics are wrong , like i mentioned as in the diy http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...004-style.html, the steering wheel airbag being replaced is identical to mine, and as shown clearly having 2 connectors on it one green/yellow the other black, both leading to the slp ring, not one cable from airbag to slip ring as shown by realoem....

sometimes the image on the real oem is a generic image while the part number produces a correct part/device, that does not look like the image at all... i had ran into this with the connectors and pins - they would have an image and the ordered part (from the number associated with that image) did not look like that image iat all...
if you order that harness, ($81 from BMW of Fairfax), can you return it if it is a wrong part?

Could do but out here in cyprus have to get it from main dealer and the cost is more like ahhhh 123euros which equates to about 168USD a bit steep for a little but of wire....ordering online great but if nobody can actually tell me for sure what the item looks like, then i stand the risk of it being wrong, then all the grief of returning comes into play.....next there is breakers yards but they are few and far between out here.....hmmmm I may gamble and go for the connector I saw on ebay that sellers say is compatible and see what happens although cable colours look different connectors look identical
