Cargo Area Dimensions/Cargo Liners?

Can anyone link me to good dimensions diagram of the E53 cargo area? I'm looking for a waterproof liner with sidewalls [like the nice ones made for E70s by canvasback dot com] for wet dog protection, and canvasback doesn't have a stock model for E53s but can fabricate one with proper dimensions.

On the other hand, if anyone knows of another quality source, please pass it on. Thanks!

Do you have load floor?

Weather tech makes a nice mat for the non load floor models that is more "cupped" to trap liquids, dirt etc.

Have you tried searching for the protective cover that BMW use to make for the e53 X5? Sadly, it's no longer in production...but if you shop using the 11 digit BMW part nbr...you may find one still floating around out there (especially over in Europe). Or someone may have an old one they no longer need:

Thanks, QSilver - great tip. I didn't know there was an OEM version. I do have the slide-out 'load' floor, and expect I will put down the $70 OEM rubber mat [or weathertech], but I'm looking for more comprehensive protection.

Shop for the OEM version, especially if you want to dog proof the rear!

There's also a dog guard/boot protection gate (if no PANO sunroof & no elec rear seats)...which is similar to the parcel net except it appears to be more rigid. It mounts from the top of the cargo cover up to the roof liner and can prevent dogs from jumping over into the rear seat area:

I have one of the OEM floor liners, and am quite impressed with it. I got it off ebay a few years ago. Not sure how often they pop up these days. When mines fully installed, you can't really get the dog in and out of the rear passenger doors, as the liner is about 1 foot tall near the front (which is a good thing)....
Cheers,
Scott.

Thanks, Scott. A local dealer shows one in inventory, but we'll see. In Oz, do you have to mount it upside down from the front?

Hi Mate,

Sorry; I was off interstate.

I took a bunch of photos of mine today. We have no kids, and do a lotta scuba diving, so I have the rear seats permanently folded down, and a cargo barrier net installed.

The photos I took of the boot liner, show it installed with the rear seats folded down. It has two little bits that you slot under the drivers and passengers headrests (see photos), bits you loop around the rear brackets above passenger head above door, and two suction caps for rear windows.

It has holes in the front bottom, to allow the bottom hooks for the cargo net to go into the floor. It's not a bad design; although the suction caps on the rear windows come off sometimes.

Sing out if you need any closeups or explanations of the photos. I figured it was just better to take lotsa photos and hope you find the info you're after..

Cheers,
Scott.
