E53 X5 Amplifier and NAV Unit

Good day all, its a pleasure to have found a forum of BMW fans!!

The other day my stereo system started hissing and splurting so stopped at my workshop and removed the rear left panel and floor board to inspect the amp and what a surprise I found. The amp and the NAV unit were halfway under water!!

I promptly removed all the covers and removed the water with a vacuum and dried it out nicely. Now the fun begins. The amp was removed today and is quite badly rusted, and so is the NAV unit which takes the DVD disc.

I sent it into a techie today to take a look at and am not convinced it will be fixable. I need a DSP2 Amplifier and a compatible NAV unit. The amp serial number is 531094802 HW03/SW03. Can anyone give me an idea as to what my cheapest fix is going to be?

Another thing, after this palaver, I scoured the forums and found this to be a common problem. I found the two sunroof drains and they were totally clogged, as were the 3 in the tailgate and the one in the AMP compartment. I removed the drains (little flap valves ) completely. Is it ok for them to be left out as I dont see the point of cleaning and refitting them, they really are cheap and nasty. Any advice?

Have a good day all.
