I can manage small things but am in no way a mechanic, nor do i have a garage to work in. How would I go about taking off belt and checking pulleys to spin them? Would i just take off top cover over radiator and loosen alternator bolt and slip off serpentine belt, then spin each pulley to find culprit? Or should I just bring it to the stealer? Dunno, but there is def somethin that isn't music to my ears in there..

You don't need any special tools to get the fan clutch off. Just a large wrench and a dead blow hammer.

Soak the bolt with penetrating oil (I use PBlaster)

Put the wrench on, smack the wrench with the hammer. Once it breaks loose it comes off easily. I've done at least 10 BMW fan clutches this way and have never had a problem. If you're nervous about the wrench hitting anything when it breaks loose, put a folded up towel or something where the wrench would hit after smacking it.

You can't use an impact on the fan clutch. Only an open end wrench will work.

You can't get a socket on the fan clutch bolt. To get the fan clutch off the car you need an open end wrench. I think it's a 32mm and you can only use an open ended wrench.

Taking off an alternator is entire different.

Now tell me how you're going to use an impact to get this off the car.
