X5 scared the pants off me

It recently started getting cold here in Illinois.

Today it was around 35 degrees out.

I am heading to the store, take off from a light and decide to gun it a bit just to have fun and to hear the exhaust note that I've fallen in love with.

Well I gun it, look in the rear view mirror and all I see is white. I'm thinking "oh crap, what the hell did I do". Thinking I'm blowing smoke out the exhaust.

I pull over, get out and the exhaust has nothing coming out of it. So I rev it, still nothing.

Get in and gun it again, see white behind me.

Well I finally figured out the shape of the car makes the exhaust heat fly right on to the rear window when you take off, fogging up the glass. I about had a heart attack, and all along it was this.

Just thought I'd share my brain fart with the board. You can all feel free to laugh at me now. ha ha.

i have it - sometimes i do a very hard take off from a traffic light, for 2-3 seconds, still keeping the overall speed within limit, but hard enough that my two kids are having blast in the rear seats...
anyways - the rear window fogs up solid, and that is not the blue smoke, that is different...

You folks with the gasoline engines, try doing that with a diesel full of bad quality petrol, like the one sold in Ukraine!

Not fun, all the black smoke blocks your rear view!

We were driving in two diesel X5s, in Romania, coming back to Greece from Ukraine, the eldest son in the front one. He floored it to pass another car and all I saw was a black cloud. When my turn came to do the same, I looked back in the mirror and I almost couldn't see the lights of the car I was passing!

Back in Greece, we filled a couple of times with good diesel, no more smoke!
