will bmw scanner 1.40 read engine fault codes?

hi all
i have bmw scanner 1.40 interface and wanted to read some engine fault codes but bmw scanner 1.40 couldnt see the egine fault codes (so be fair on the 3 pages of different system) it showed very litle

took car to a garage who read the fault codes on their diagnostic kit

i just dont want to pay another £45 for diagnostics if my kit will do it.

is there a certain page on the software i should be looking or wont bmw scanner read engine fault codes?

Actually it shows quite a bit of information, and permits some coding as well. Sounds like someone didn't do their homework on how to use it.

So if in looking for engine misfire fault codes
Where would this be shown
As when I ran a scan it only bought up a couple
Errors eg satnav. I couldn't see anything engine related

All your engine codes are stored in the DME module. Scan the car and then double click the DME to display the stored faults.

If you want to watch real-time misfires get INPA. (Honestly though, if you can't figure out BMW scanner....you're going to be completely up a creek with inpa)

We'll I guess something maybe wrong with my
Scanner. As when I run a can
Dme is the first system in the list and it says "not found"
Why would my scanner not see this?

Are you using a full version of the software or a copy or demo version of the software?

im just using the software that came with the scanner I have no idea if demo or not.. it certainly doesn't say demo when running the software..
I did some googling and some people say u need to bridge pin 7+8 to get this working?

BMW Scan 1.40 which I have used to clear lots of codes and disable keys I don't have does not see DME on my car either.

Oddly INPA does not show any of those codes & when I go in in BMW Scan it says no errors.

INPA has no problem seeing my DME.

What is this showing?

That is basically just measuring the time between each power stroke to calculate for misfire detection. A misfire would increase the time at the given cylinder.

That's very odd. My BMW Scan 1.40 found both DME & EGS on mine. FWIW, I did modified my scanner to bridge pin 7 & 8.

Now, if someone can tell me how to solve the following ABS error code, it would very much be appreciated. I'm running the OE 19 staggered setup (255/50R19 and 285/45R19), if it matters.

ABS error code => 5DEB/A0 - Info: clutch gearbox-ECU: reduction torque intervention because of to high tire size tolerance.
