Reading Check Control messages with INPA

Does anyone know if it's possible to read Check Control messages with INPA? The pixels on my cluster are so far gone that I can't read CC messages when they come up, and I was thinking that perhaps they're stored in the cluster, and I might be able to read them out after-the-fact with INPA.

Gary it's not time to send your cluster out for repair yet? 120 on eBay will get you taken care of nicely!

Actually ordered the flex cables today for the cluster and the MID. I'm gonna do them both myself as soon as possible.

Hey, after you do your mid, any chance you post some comments/ pics?
I have one line out on mine (the line that makes the horizontal part of the number 4. ) It drives me bonkers!!! thinking if its not too big a job i would try it myself!
if i recall some people suggested that it requires a special wide tip for your soldering iron (and a heavy duty/ wattage soldering iron too!)
thanx

I don't know for sure if what you propose is doable...but if it were possible...I think the module that would have the info stored would be the LCM...not the IKE. Why?

The display in the cluster (the CCD - check control display) receives the Priority 1 & 2 messages from the check control module (CCM). This module used to be a dedicated module but BMW merged its function into the LM (lamp module) back in 1995...which then became the LCM (light check module). (follow all that? )

Just got both the cluster and midi done through a vendor on ebay (New Jersey). He did excellent work. I ordered the ribbons to repair both myself but decided to send out the units instead. The ribbons I ordered don't require any soldering, if anyone is interested. Just go to Youtube and type in " BMW pixel repair akspeedo" . I tried to canceled the order but they had already sent the package (From England). By the time I received the ribbons my cluster and midi were already back in the car !!

Yeah I sent my cluster to the nj guy (George from bavarianaudio) earlier this year, he was done in 24 hours and installed silver gauge rings for me as well.

I would have done the repairs myself as they don't seem too tough, just tedious. However, I don't have the steadiest hands AT ALL, damn alcoholics in the family passed me down the shakes lol, so much better to get it done for a few bucks more.

Let us know how u do Gary!

To answer my own question, yes you can see Check Control messages with INPA. Many thanks to QSilver7 for pointing me in the right direction!

From the LCM, you can see a list of which messages have been generated and the number of times each has, but not on what date or time. I was mainly concerned that I was getting CC messages about low fluid levels, but the only messages I see are trivial lighting errors, none of which is still a problem.

I'll still be making that pixel fix ASAP!
