DRL question

I have a pre-facelift X5 (2001 4.4l)

The color of the DRLs drive me nuts, i don't want to spend the money to do a new housing, has anyone put a brighter bulb in place of the OEM bulb for a brighter more white look? I have tried searching but have only come up with people putting in new housings, or just disabling the DRL

The reason why the drl looks the way it does is because it's only using about 60% of the bulb's power try getting a different color bulb and see if it satisfy you

Find someone with sss or who knows how to use ncs, and code them off. If you dont know anyone buy the romanian cable+software off ebay and set it up and DIY.

Bulb replacement numbers are littered all over this site; should be in the owners manual, and you can also use the guide over at Sylvania.. search!

And as far as funcionality vs color goes...those beams are also your highbeams, so I'd be cautious about what you go sticking in there. If you don't like the color, I'd just code them off if they aren't required in your area.

it's on the web in pdf format too, if you don't have it handy. Or just the bulb size.
Easiest way is to go to an auto part store and ask an associate to help you out. Tell them you want white bulb for your high beam.

you can also code them to be at 100% vs 60% (40-60%)... at 100% you will have the full high beam light output, which is not good for the incoming traffic

If I enable my drl and I turn my angel lights on, would the drl still be on or turn off?

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
just disable the DRL , a dealer should do it for free if you have a good relationship with them and are in for other service, it takes them 5 mins

its not required in AZ
