yeap, what RB just said - you need to program the actual VIN into the clluster, and the old miles from the car, in order to avoid the tamper dot.

once the VIN is matching, chances are that the lights will go out but you still would have the fact that the "is" cluster has an oil temp gauge and the regular cluster has MPG gauge...

In order to activate that oil temp gauge, you will need to study the WDS wiring diagrams, to figure out the difference between the two clusters and see if the 4.4 can actually supply the required signal.
Otherwise, that needle will not be operational.

Also, on programming the VIN and the mileage - the new mileage can not be less than the mileage already in the cluster...

Remind us - what are the mileages on on your 4.4 and 4.8?

Cluster swapping didn't work with me because of ABS & DSC errors in both cars
I returned the instruments clusters to its original cars and everything went fine
It seems I need to go to better coding person
As for tires, I moved also the fender flares, it is ok now
Anyone managed to swap instruments clusters of 4.8 to 4.4 successfully?

for the cluster to work, you would need to swap the cluster and the LCM module... earlier I mentioned that you will need the LCM module for the adaptive headlights - there is also one more module, in the glove compartmetn area, for the adaptive headlights - AHL... you would need that one too... and the proper wiring, of course...

Still can't register the car in the country? i feel your pain...

Instruments cluster worked perfectly on the 4.4 with all features
I didn't swap the LCM yet
I'm not sure shall I go for LCM and AHL or no
Is it straight forward job

If you scrap the 4.8iS, I'd love to get my hands on the left side (driver's) mirror. I don't need the glass or the painted cover, just the rest...

He is in egypt - the shipping of the part might be too expensive... or not...

For the adaptive headlights to work in the non-adaptive car, you need the AHL module (mentioned earlier) and correct wiring... I have not looked at the WDS to compare the wirings between AHL and non-AHL equipped cars, but with the correct modules, properly programmed LCM (if you take the LCM from the donor car, it already programmed), correct headlights (you should swap headlights EVEN if the adaptive lights are not your goal!) all you might need is a connector for the AHL module in glove compartment, and two connectors at the headlights for the lateral motors... In some cases those could have been pre-wired from the factory - I do not know this for a fact, but it might be worth checking out...

So, swap the headlights, pull the AHL module, the LCM module, the cluster - install the cluster (IKE), the LCM and see if there is empty connector hanging in the glove compartment area... if not, then it can be traced and done (if you have the will and time to do so). If you don't wish to bother with retrofit - you still have euro spec'd lights, and the LCM and cluster that match

Word of caution - when you transfer the cluster and LCM from the 4.8 to 4.4, you effectively transfer the mileage from 4.8 to 4.4 - which might have some legal issues... just bear that in mind...

I was aware of that, but thanks for pointing it out just in case I wasn't. I've recently received packages from Turkey and Romania on pretty inexpensive items, so it might not be so bad. It'll take quite a while, but that's not a problem if the mirror is priced right.

AHL is located behind the glove compartment, in the module carrier - you pull the glove compartment out, and on the firewall between the passenger cavity and the engine bay there should be a plastic carrier that holds various modules - one of them will have markings saying AHL and a part number... The part number will probably be 61356934837. for the adaptive lights to work, you need the LCM too - it is located in the passenger footwell area, on the right wall - you don't need to remove glove compartment for the LCM, just a platic trim piece, held to the wall by two clips and peel out the carpet... It is easier to work in that area if the glove box is out the way...

you also mentioned that you want to move the alarm... along with alarm modules ( i think it is EWS in the top portion of the rear hatch, under the trim, where the third brake light is at) I think you will also need the GM module, which is located right next to the AHL module behind the glove compartment, in the same module carrier...

For the alarm you also might need the DWS module - where is QSilver when you need his meticulously correct info??!!!

what about your sunroof - the 4.8 has panoramic roof... what is in your 4.4?
