Upgrade of E53 2004 4.4 to 4.8IS project

Dear all,

I want to upgrade the following items on my E53 4.4 2004 to 4.8IS (due to some legalization issues, I have to scrap the 4.8is, so I want to swap the maximum items the 4.4)

Is it a simple straight forward swap (plug & play) or require major modifications

I am aiming for the following items

Exterior

Rear & front pumpers
20” rims
Exhaust system
Side steps
Tire pressure monitoring

Interior
Heated Sports seat
NAV
DSP
Instrument cluster
Middle mirror with alarm
Telephone eject box

Any other items you would recommended to be upgraded in the 4.4 (engine is not possible)

Your usual support and cooperation is highly appreciated.

Tire pressure monitoring I wouldn't. It's NOT easy. You have to mess with coding. Not worth it.

Interior
Heated Sports seat Not sure. You might have to sliced some wires if not replacing module
NAV
DSP Don't bother. Upgrade with aftermarket amp is better. I suspect you have to stick with it if you swap the NAV system
Instrument cluster I replied to your thread on this
Middle mirror with alarm
Telephone eject box

- "Shadowline" window trim
- Interior trim
- Clear side markers
- Anthracite headliner and pillar covers

I concur with TMV. You can pretty much swap everything in a cinch, except for motor because you are getting into a heap of coding and computing and all that jazz. Interior bits are interchangeable..., Hell while you are at it, you can take the door from the 4.8 and slap it on the 4.4., this way you just have to paint not mess with filler and it is still a 100% OE body piece.

I even think you can do a brake swap and go with the bigger rotors and calipers from your 4.8 to you 4.4. You can build yourself a FrankenX! What happened to the 4.8 if you don't mind me asking?

Is there a reason you have to scrap the 4.8is? new law? did you import it or something from somewhere? Are 4.8isss illegal in egypt??

it is an imported car, which i can't register permanently in Egypt, not specific to 4.8IS

since i have this 4.4, i thought of performing this project and make use of the 4.8IS

You will have to remove the bumper on the white one but may not have to on the black one due to the washers

swapping the rotors and calipers is an good idea, thanks

the 4.8 is in a great condition, but since it is imported car, i can't register it so instead of shipping it back, i will use it in this project.
