I don't really hear anything out of the ordinary. Actually when you came out from under the car it sounded quiet and perfectly normal.

also, you wouldn't be able to hear the torque converter with the car sitting still as it only operates when the vehicle is in gear and in motion.

Obviously, this is not the first time you have listened to the engine running so you know it is not normal.

But, it is hard to hear from the video what you hear. Can you do another for longer period of time and moving around slowly even under the hood so we can get a better idea of what is going one?

Anything else going on? Idles fine, revs normally etc?

He said this has been going on since he purchased the car, so safe to assume he's never heard it run any other way. Which is why I said I think it sounds perfectly normal. You're going to have noise under any car when it's running, I don't hear anything out of the ordinary in his video.

C'mon--"you're going to have noise under any car when it's running" That' not dissimilar than if you told me that when it rains there will be water falling from the sky.

To jump to the conclusion that nothing is wrong is at least very unreasonable. You are not there to hear what OP hears. We don't know the quality of the recording device nor do we know how much the speakers we are using to hear his video may change it.

Do you think before you write and read before you send?

I run my laptop audio thru 2 Fostex SPA 11 flat response studio monitors (200 watt internal amps), vid sounds normal to me. Even plugged in the Sennheiser HD 700s headphones and couldn't hear anything abnormal.

I am not an audio geek so that is gobbledegook to me. I assume you are saying that there is no difference in what you hear and what was recorded. Accepting that, it doesn't cover the capability of the recording device, nor do we know if OP was even close enough to the sound for us to pick it out of normal engine sounds.

If the sound is only heard in park, especially if neutral is included in--not any other gear---I don't see that as normal sound from an engine or transmission.
