Probably just has Dinan stickers, maybe a stolen badge

If it has aS3 Dinan package it is supercharged. That alone is worth around half the selling price. I would check it out if I lived in the area.

The selling price of the supercharger was around $12,000 and since it had to be installed by an approved dealer the install cost was $,5,000 plus which did not include the cost or installation of the rest of the S3 package. That package included free flow exhaust, engine and transmission software, high flow MAF, high flow throttle body and strut tower brace. The supercharge on a 4.4 delivered 421hp and 404 in torque. On a 4.6 it was 451hp and 439 torque.

Plus the 4.6s had all or very close to all packages/accessories you could order.

Not saying it is legit but if I lived a little close, I would take a look at it.

I found more info here:

No supercharger but the Dinan bits are legit. Looks like it's been for sale for a while and he's taking a bath on price. I talked to him briefly and I'm going to try to check it out sometime this week as it's in town and would be a cool family truckster and sometime tow vehicle. I'm fairly experienced in messing with these motors as I've had two e38's with the m62tub44 and have done pretty much every maintenance item on them, is this basically the same engine just a little bigger/hotter? Same zf 5hp24 or does it have the 30? Timing chain guides can go anytime at it's current age like the 44? I've replaced those before, not too difficult, just time consuming. Coolant system plastics start to break, valley pan can leak, water cooled alternator etc.? Would be nice to replace my current e38 (235k miles) or at least give it a break while I put a 6 speed in it.

personally, i like the red caliper brakes, but it doesn't quite fit with this color scheme.

aside from that;
all these mods but no AEs?? what about running boards? Bummer.
The interior looks real nice, the sound system is legit as well as the parts from Dinan. but at 165k miles? for $13k? I just don't think that's a good investment. Isn't this suv nearing its end?

suv looks nice, i'll give it that

If I were close enough, I would check it out. Let us know what you find out Bob.

I think that car is worth checking out. Seems pretty legit and as Bob points out - the owner is taking a hosing on the price if it has all that he claims it has. I do suspect there are other issues lurking though.

I had over 30k in mods in my Z. I was lucky to get 11 back.

That does not include purchase and I believe the seller is including MSRP in his 100k number.
