The only way that X should have the S3 registration is if it was supercharged at one time. As you can see by the website they no longer offer the supercharger which is why you don't see the S3 package. In 2002-2003 it was the premier/exclusive Dinan offering and the only one that came with a serial no. registration.

It's great you are comfortable with your check. I can't get there, always worry I missed something. Was no intention to insult your capability if that was your interpretation.
No insult taken, and the money we're talking about there isn't potential for a huge loss given parts values (and I'm not afraid to part a car out if need be).

Interesting on the s3 package, I'll try to find out from Dinan how the thing was originally equipped.

Stage ≠ Signature Package.

IF it was at one point supercharged and IF he left the bigger injectors and fuel pump installed, it would run very poorly.

I will say that I wouldn't mind trading my Brembo cross-drilled front and rears for his slotted.

If you give them the serial number on the S3 registration they will also be able to tell you when that package was purchased and who installed it. They continued to offer the S3 package for several years after it was introduced in the 2002 catalog.

Only if the owner registers it with Dinan by the s/n, otherwise they need the last 7 of the VIN (according to tech support). I'll follow up when I have more info.

I didn't post they will know the vehicle. I don't have an S3 but I know they are extremely careful about sending out anything that would be Dinan branding.

I did assume they would know when the registration was established and who did the install, pretty basic if the program had any real meaning. Based on conversations with Steve Dinan I would be very surprised if the program was meaningless to them.

I think JBelknap has an S3 registration. He may know the information they required to issue his registration.

I'm not sure how it works, I called Dinan earilier today and they asked for the last 7 of the vin. I told them I had the s/n but they said that would only show up if the owner registered with them. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but in any case I'll email them the last 7 of the vin and find out what the deal is.

I don't understand what serial number they are talking about. They issue the plaque which includes the serial number. If I recall correctly, the Dinan installer provides documentation to Dinan for the owner and then Dinan issues the plaque to the owner with the registration number they chose.

The number from the plaque is what I gave them and they said they needed the last 7 of the vin, which I didn't have at the time. I didn't say it made any sense, because honestly it doesn't, otherwise what is the plaque for?
