X5 no more.

After nearly 5 years and 75k miles of fantastic service, today I retired my 2006 X5 4.4 with 95k miles. I joined this board soon after I bought my CPO in 2009. While I rarely posted, I visited often to learn about owner experiences. My own experience probably mirrors that of silent owners. My X5 never left me stranded, rarely had problems, and was a blast to drive. My new vehicle is a 2014 X3 3.5i, with M Sport, Premium, Cold Weather, and Technology packages, and a whole bunch of new bells and whistles that at the moment seem daunting to learn. As is often said by outgoing e53 owners, thank you ALL, for cultivating a fantastic forum.

Good luck with the new X.

My X has left me stranded once (waterpump fail), and never stranded the PO. Not bad for over 175k miles.

Thanks

I don't regret purchasing an X3, but honestly it's not a replacement for my e53. It's a very different vehicle and despite what the specifications state, it feels much smaller than the e53. I agree with many members who describe their e53's as a tank. The F-25 is no tank. It feels more like the new 3-series. (I test drove the 3-series GT.) Also, the side view of the e53, is timeless.

I am anxious to see what this turbo inline 6 can do. I still have less than 1k miles, so I am keeping it calm.

When you wanna really see what it can do, be sure to put it in Sport mode. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the response and the power. Have fun!

BIG +1!

Hard driving during break-in will result in an oil burner!
