Whistle AFE vs Weapon-R?

I've been scoping out intakes, and wondering if anyone's had any experience with Weapon-r. AFE sounds NICE, though I like the look of Weapon-r.

I'm not expecting a big performance gain, mostly aiming for better sound...

Also, is the resonator/silencer on the stock intake necessary? I know on a lot of other cars people remove them to enhance sound and air flow.

Weapon-R sounds like a Kung fu movie.

Afe intake is proven, get that if you must, but it's mostly sound and cosmetics, minimal performance gain on N/A motors.

You'd do better with a afe drop in or k&n filter in the stock airbox most likely.

Be careful with oiled air filter of the CAI system. It can foul the MAF.
If you have to have it, AFE > Weapon-R.

Roger that. Will test out the K&N first... wishing I hadn't thrown out the one I had from my old Subaru. It was the same size, 33-2255. :P

I have a pipercross drop in. I couldn't find anyone that had the K&N in stock. ECS has the pipercross for under 30 bucks.

I ran a Conforti intake with the ITG oiled foam on my E46 330i 6 speed, UUC/Corsa catback exhaust, hi-flow cats and headers. No MAF issues. I like the multi-layer foam because it can hold a lot of dust/dirt and STILL flow like new. Still have the Conforti composite airbox, Carbon fiber tube, filter, and cleaner/oil if anyone wants it.

Won't fit an X. The tube and heat shield/airbox is designed for an E46 330i.
