new pano issues

My pano has the standard problem where the rear glass gets stuck open. I haven't had the time or desire to fix it yet. I could open and close the main glass (but it stops every 4 inches) and I can open and close the headliner. . . until recently. So the headliner was open and at some point the rear glass got cracked open just a bit. I was closing the headliner and when the second section began to come out it starter making crackling noises. I looked up and the metal piece that holds the two headliner pieces together had gotten pulled off of the front piece. My guess is that for whatever reason with the rear cracked open like that (normally it would have closed when you started moving the headliner forward) it prevented the second section from moving.

I got the first section back in and then closed the glass with the flat head and hammer. Then I tried to close the headliner again. This time just the first section moved out but the second is totally detached now. I tried reaching in there to slide it out but it seems impossible. Problem is I think that metal strip that holds the two headlienr pieces together is jamming things up and it won't let the headliner retract all the way so the glass can't open at all now.

If anyone know how to get the headliner piece pulled out without removing the headliner please let me know! otherwise i'll probably just leave it as is until I finally decide to order the repair kits and fix it properly.
