check the seals around the sunroof and the most importantly, the drain tubes - they might be clogged or pinched... the front tubes go from the side corners of the sunroof, run alongside the A-pillar, right next to the head airbag... it get pinched there too, as the metal clips might get misaligned or whatnot... but more likely, there is debris in those tubes and water is not draining from the channel around the sunroof... the front tubes void into a little spot on the bottom of the car, past the front wheel and just before the front door starts... if you look down there, you will see the tubes coming out... the rear tubes open to the top corners at the rear hitch - you should be able to see two little squarish holes at the top left and top right corners of the main body...

some folks used compressed air to blow the debris, i've heard, some used seltzer water - i like this method myself...

you still need to clean up the water damage in top console..

It rains a lot today and it is my turn to have water leaking from the center console roof switch!

Opened sunroof and saw that:
- RF drain works fine (poured water and it drained)
- LF (Left Front) drain clogged.

- I have used plastic grass trimmer but the blockage is halfway down, about 2-3 feet from the drain opening. Then I cannot push it further.
- I am avoiding using compressed air b/c someone told me it can blow off the connection.

- Now I am thinking going from the bottom UPWARD, but cannot find any diagram of the drain hose's termination point at the chassis. Does anyone have a photo?

The drain hose is likely kinked in the A-pillar. I've had both of mine do this. They come out of the clips, get a big kink and plug up. Usually, it floods the floor in a good rain. Remove the A-pillar and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks,

Is there a DIY for A-pillar removal somewhere?

Here is what the kinked tube looks like. Pry off the airbag plastic logo and take out the screw. Remove the a-pillar.

Mine developed a crack in the casette ----I do think it was not immediate, but because I had removed some custom audio pieces in the same area that I had installed eons ago....

The casette itself was like $18-19 hundred if I recall.
That was not a fun repair

How can the hose become kinked?
Is it assembly line defect?

I believe it may have something to do with freeze and thaw cycles in the winter. That line that runs through the pillar connects to a metal tube below the a-pillar. Water in the metal tube freezes / re-freezes and pushes the plastic tube out eventually.

Much like fence-posts heaving if they are not buried deep enough in climates where the ground freezes in the winter.

I've had to fix mine a few times (driver 2x and passenger 1x) already. Last time I "splinted it" with a skinny metal wire/rod and zip ties to hopefully keep it straight.

I did also have the tube disconnected from the cassette when I first got the car. You can drop the headliner down slightly and jam your hand in there to fix it.
