i went from a 4.6 to 4.8 just because of the options installed and features on the bigger engine that are not available on the smaller ones... knowing myself, if i got a 3.0, i would have ended up retrofitting rear heated seats, adjustable seatbacks, shades on the rear doors, PDC, Nav, silver rings in the cluster, sports wheel - all the things that might have been missing from the specimen... with 4.8is i know that I am only missing rear airbags in mine (which probably could be retrofittable, but with little kids, i don't want them yet), and that is just about it for a major retrofit adventure... for me, the power of the 4.8 comes as an icing on that proverbial cake - sometimes i am scared of that power!!! just today, as i was merging onto I-83 south, a dude in front of me slowed down instead of speeding up to merge... I whipped the truck around him onto the left lane and floored it - HOLY-SHMOLLY!!!!! my kids in the back were squealing like little piglets in euphoria (they like when daddy does 1/4 mile from traffic light to next one, just to amuse them - never exceeding actual speed limit as i have to slow down), and I was like - that semi was a mile away from me, how did it end up right in front of me!!! I usually drive conservatively when the kids are onboard, but boy oh boy, i love it when the power to accelerate and the power to decelerate are there, thanks to big engine and big brakes....

My advice? Rock the M if you can stand the looks of the E70. The 4.8 has me knowing the M is next. Besides, it's the only trim in which I actually like the look of that thing. Red, I think. Then you have to get over the bloat when you drive it.

Maybe by 2020, somewhere will be an F(whatever) M that's got low miles for CPO. Seven years away. Hrmmm... I better go drive one so I can start looking..

Well, it could use a bit more power IMO. When the gf and I drove around in a 4.6is she said straight away that it was faster...and she doesnt know anything about cars LOL.
