New Chrysler offerings have been known to strand motorists.

I know people that have broken down on the drive home from the dealer.

Im not saying Chryslers are reliable, but for one to say they would never buy a (insert american brand) because of reliability, then own an E53 or any BMW for that matter is laughable. I purchased my 4.8 last year in june in mint condition...or so I thought and its constant work. Has it left me stranded?...not in the sense that it would start; but in other ways.

I did not say I'd never buy Chrysler. BMWs and all modern cars have so many systems and dependencies that it is a crap shoot what the reliability of a 5+ year old vehicle will be.

I'd suggest lease every three years if one is unwilling to have any exposure to repair costs.

The e53 may have a lot of annoying issues but NOTHING as serious and dangerous as a crystler product. I had an 08 grand Cherokee and the front differential seized up at 70mph stopping it instantly. My friends jumped out and refused to ever ride in it again. It had about 43,000 miles on it when I got rid of it and bought my current 02 4.6is that now has 130,000 miles on it and am living every single moment with it.

So you don't call brake lines that disintegrate from rust serious or dangerous...lol!! Several threads about this subject, here's one for you.

Any car that's been exposed to harsh climates like salt and snow can have brake line rot. Just keep up with it. The issues on the X5 are no where near the crap build quality that crystler exhibits.

We had a 2005 Peugeot 206 cabrio in Mexico. in 2006 having never seen snow both rear brake lines failed.

The car was 14 months old and had less than 7k miles but was out of the joke 1 year warranty manufacturers get away with in Mexico.
