New Chrysler offerings have been known to strand motorists.

I know people that have broken down on the drive home from the dealer.

I know someone bought a brand new durango and spent more time in the shop. Completely regretted buying that. He even tried invoking lemon laws as he had so many issues that they gave him bunch of free extras to keep the truck. He's not very smart as he stills has it and just bought a jaguar x-type. Talk about going from bad to worse!

Im not saying Chryslers are reliable, but for one to say they would never buy a (insert american brand) because of reliability, then own an E53 or any BMW for that matter is laughable. I purchased my 4.8 last year in june in mint condition...or so I thought and its constant work. Has it left me stranded?...not in the sense that it would start; but in other ways.

I did not say I'd never buy Chrysler. BMWs and all modern cars have so many systems and dependencies that it is a crap shoot what the reliability of a 5+ year old vehicle will be.

I'd suggest lease every three years if one is unwilling to have any exposure to repair costs.

LOL agree with ya but alot of these x5 have high mileage so they do wear out. the dodges I`ve owned had less than 100000km and tranny problems and connecting rod going through the block knocking starting off . plus going through brakes like crazy ,and I wasn`t hard on them either . that was about 10 yrs ago so maybe things have changed probally not since I worked at a dodge dealership. but anyways porche ,bmw could be the same who knows I never worked for them.

We owned a caravan that was purchased new by my wife's mother. The thing was babied and had low miles. VCG leaked, ps pump failed, the norm, ect. The brakes though were a complete joke! I would change the pads about every quarter, I know I replaced at least two rotors and at the end, the master cylinder failed and the pedal went to the floor. Luckily this happened upon start up. After replacing the mc the abs stayed on... Sold it a few weeks later.

The e53 may have a lot of annoying issues but NOTHING as serious and dangerous as a crystler product. I had an 08 grand Cherokee and the front differential seized up at 70mph stopping it instantly. My friends jumped out and refused to ever ride in it again. It had about 43,000 miles on it when I got rid of it and bought my current 02 4.6is that now has 130,000 miles on it and am living every single moment with it.
