headlight conversion

Hello, recently there has been a 2004 x5 taken out of commission near me. I'm trying to get some info if it's possible to swap out the headlights into my 02. I can get any parts necessary out of the donor. Also if anyone is interested its got sport and cold weather package with charcoal interior. Thanks.

If the 2004 is prior to the facelift, the headlights will fit. If the 2004 was built after the facelift the headlights will not fit. You can tell the difference in the headlights per the following thread: E53 X5 Face Lift? - PistonHeads

In 2002, while the same configuration, depending on when your 2002 was produced, it could have headlights that are fairly easy or very difficult to open. That only matters if you would like to upgrade your headlights with angel eyes etc. in the future.

I don't know what the cost of the 2004 headlights will be but you might want to take a look at Depo replacement headlight instead of investing in the 2004s.

If the problem is your headlight lens are not clear there are restoration kits that can take care of that issue.

Headlight conversion

Thanks a lot I've purchased aftermarket headlights with angel eyes and I'm having nothing but problems with the product and the company. But obviously I bought a bmw for the quality and I replaced with parts from China so it's my fault, lol. Anyway I'm mainly looking for the angel eye's so hopefully I can figure something out.

depending on the donor car, you can replace the

hood,
left and right fenders
front bumper
then the headlights from the donor should fit

there was a thread in the HOW-TO section that discussed this route

you can get the tail lights from the donor, they have a slightly different pattern to them - the 2002 has a "diamond" pattern and the 2004 should have a "CELIS" pattern, that only looks like the CELIS tail lights of the much newer BMWs...

At first I thought you were messing with me... But it makes sense and is probably quite possible. The donor is not looking to get rich off his parts. Haha thank you Very good idea.

Does the donor X have DSP? I could use the wiring loom that connects the amp to the sub.
