ABS Faults Solved
After weeks of ABS brake faults, I have a solution to share…
History: Random ABS Faults. Turn key to off, restart vehicle, faults would clear. When faulted, would also cause "Check Engine" light to go ON. Evaluation: System is designed my Monkeys. The put the ABS Sensor plugs in the wheel wells, in what is probably the dirties environment possible. In my case, living in North Eastern Wisconsin, USA, all of my problems started after getting a car wash. Roads were snow covered and salty. Car was VERY dirty and salt covered. Solution: Being an electrical engineer, the total randomness of the faults and the fact that they would reset after turning the vehicle off, lead me down a path to my solution. It's the damn plugs in the wheel wells. I purchased a can of "Electronics Parts Cleaner". (You MUST purchase the stuff that leaves NO RESIDUE). Open the cheap little door on the ABS Sensor plug / jack in the wheel well. Remove plug / jack assembly and unplug the connector. Spray the cleaner into both male and female ends. Flush it out really well. Re-assemble. All of this happened about 2 weeks ago, and I have not had any ABS or check engine faults since the solution was implemented. I hope this works for all, and you could save $$$ on new ABS Sensors. |
