Air bag light on ?

02 4.4 83k
I've owned this truck for about 6 months......started up yesterday the air bag light came on and stayed on. When I first start it the light comes on than goes of for a second than stays on. I know..pull codes but is there any common problem for this. I hope it cycles off with the key eventually, can't imagine the air bag goes bad. I can imagine a $1,000 repair for a broken wire in the steering column.

I've owned many 7 series and picked this X5 up for winter only....it's had many many problems in those six months I've never experienced with a BMW before. I think I spent like 5k on the car so far. Thought I was getting a good deal and I did only to spend almost $1000 a month on maintenance Problems. While I can fix most problems myself I really don't want to get underneath a car anymore.
