Hmm on my car the left side of the driver's seat gets HOT but no burning smell..it gets really hot on stage 2 or 3 but I keep it on the 1st stage and it's all good..can it be bad if no burning smell is present yet?

Does anyone know where I can get a set of sport seats for my 4.6is? There's loads of e53 sport seats on ebay but not for the 4.6is as they are made of different leather.

You have a 4.6is so you have Dakota leather right? Nappa leather was on 4.8is.

Here is a full set of front/rear, although very highly priced, they are in good shape and dakota leather. In Sacramento.

I'm a little perturbed at BMW with my '03, I thought sport seats were standard with sport package, but it appears they are not, as my sport package X5 has regular seats. Would like to have a set of sport seats from a donor X5 but not willing to pay exorbitantly for them.

Yea, but it's a much softer leather than what came standard on the 3.0i and the 4.4i. The texture is much smoother on the 4.6is. It's really hard to see the grain on the 4.6is leather which makes it really hard for me to find.

you may want to check your build sheet info (or post the last 7 digits of your VIN for someone to check)...but your 4.6is should have either the walknappa (softer leather w/smoother grain structure) or the special seats that had Alcantara & black/silver seats.

The Dakota leather is the one that came on the 4.4 & 3.0 that is grainier and less supple (when new).

Yes, I have the walknappa comfort seats but I would love the walknappa leather sport seats.
